AGED MAN PASSES AWAY WEDNESDAY
--BERNARD GERMAN, RESIDENT OF ALLEN COUNTY FOR SIXTY-FIVE YEARS DIES WEDNESDAY AT HIS HOME THREE MILES EAST OF DELPHOS-NINTY-FOUR YEARS OF AGE AT THE TIME OF DEATH--FUNERAL AT CATHOLIC CHURCH ON SATURDAY MORNING AT 8:30.
One of the oldest residents of Allen County and pioneer settler of Marion Township passed into the Great Beyond when Bernard German died at his home three miles east of Delphos Wednesday afternoon at one o'clock . Death came while he was sitting in his chair, being due to old age.
Mr. German was born in Ossnabruck, Germany, December 26, 1826, and at the time of his death was ninety-four years, six months and seventeen days of age. He came to American when he was seventeen years old and located in Cincinnati, coming to Delphos sixty-five years ago.
He was united in marriage to Mary Fortman, now deceased, in 1847, and they were the parents of nine children, five sons of whom are living. They are Bernard and John German, of Oklahoma, Lewis German, of Ft. Jennings, Frank German, of Cloverdale, and A. J. German, on the home place near Delphos. Twenty-nine grandchildren and several great-grandchildren survive.
Mr. German was a member of the Catholic Church and his funeral will be held from that church Saturday morning at 8:30. Burial will be made at the St. John's Cemetery.

FUNERAL HELD SATURDAY AT ST. JOHN'S CHURCH
---LAST SAD RITES OVER THE REMAINS OF BERNARD GERMAN HELD SATURDAY MORNING----INTERMENT MADE IN ST. JOHN'S CEMETERY.
The funeral of Bernard German was held Saturday morning at eight-thirty o=clock at St. John's church, Rev. Father Burkhart celebrating the mass and Father Rupert delivering the sermon. The St. Joseph's society attended the funeral in a body.
Bearing the remains to their last resting place at St. John's cemetery were six grandsons, Leo, Sylverster, Henry, William, George and Arnold German.
The following from out of town were present at the funeral; Mrs. Carrie Brede and Mrs. Edwin Ruhl, of Hamilton; Mr and Mrs Frank Falke and Mr and Mrs. John Falke, of Ottawa, Mr and Mrs. Frank German and family, Mr and Mrs. John Schniecke and Isadore German of Cloverdale.
