Helen Charldyne Bangert, formerly of 1441 N 22nd, died on February 9, 2012 at 3:50 am in Good Samaritan Home.
She was born February 22, 1921 in Loraine, Illinois the daughter of Oscar C. and Louise F. Miller Gerhardt. On March 15, 1947 she married Herbert F. Bangert in Quincy. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1981.
She was a 1939 graduate of Mendon Township High School, and a 1942 graduate of Gem City Business College. Charldyne was employed by the Adams County Highway Department for 35 years until she retired in 1976. She was confirmed at Tioga Evangelical Church. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, where she had served as an elder.
Charldyne was a member of the Quinsippi Chapter of the National Secretaries Association where she was past president. She served on the board at Good Samaritan Home and was also a proud member of the Adams CountyWomen's Republican Club. Charldyne was honored for 25 years of service with Adams County RSVP. She volunteered at John Wood Community College as well as many years at the Villa Katherine.
Survivors include, a sister, Janet (James) Hall of Quincy; five nieces, Donna (John) Baird of Quincy, Nancy Hall of Springfield, IL, Sara (Larry) Nieders of Liberty, IL, Marlene (Thomas) Hellhake of Quincy, Sharon (William) Bearden of Quincy; 11 great nieces and nephews; 7 great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
Services: 2:30 pm Sunday (February 12, 2012) at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home with Rev. Timothy A. White officiating. There will be a private burial at Quincy Memorial Park Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois.
Visitation: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm Sunday at Hansen-Spear Funeral Home.
Memorials: Trinity United Church of Christ, Foose Center at Good Samaritan Home, or Personal Energy Transportation (PET)
