Mary Frances Botts was born near Meadville, Mo., October 13, 1857, and passed away Nov. 23, 1943, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Evan Sallee, of Chillicothe, Mo., at the age of 86 years, 1 month and 13 days. She was united in marriage to William W. Geren, a native of Tennessee, in the year of 1874. To this union five children were born, three of whom survive: Ottica A. Geren of Axtell, Kansas, Edna (now Mrs. Evan Sallee) of Chillicothe, and Ross Geren, of Meadville. The husband and two sons, Ollie and Fred, preceded her in death. Mrs. Geren accepted Jesus as her Saviour at an early age and was baptized into the fellowship of the Meadville Baptist Church. She was the last remaining charter member of this church. She leaves to mourn her loss, besides the two sons and daughter, five grandchildren, Mrs. Helen McDonald of Sumner, Mo., Freda Lois Geren of Kansas City, Mrs. Frances Compton, of Washington, D.C., Hazel Geren, of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Donivan Sallee, of Chillicothe, Mo.; two great grandsons, Dale and Gary McDonald, several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. The funeral was conducted from the home at Meadville on Sunday afternoon by Rev. Chenoweth, and the body was laid to rest in the Meadville cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews: D.G. Sidebottom, Joe Evans, Cecil Goff, Chas. Harvey, Jesse Evans, and W.H. Morrison. Flower bearers were two granddaughters, Helen and Freda Lois, and two nieces, Lola Harvey and Florence Morrison.
