He served in the United States Army, and participated in the liberation of the Philippines during the final days of World War II. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from the University of Wisconsin, Madison in 1950. In 1964, he earned an MBA from Marquette University. He worked at Delco Electronics for 42 years, retiring in 1998. He was also the Northwestern High School Band treasurer for eight years.
He enjoyed traveling, loved golfing, and held season tickets for the University of Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers football teams for over 50 years.
He is survived by one son, Roger E. Gerbig II; one daughter, Elizabeth Kent and her husband Don; and one sister, Shirley Peterson and her husband Paul.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Sunset Memory Garden Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Garden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
