RETURN AN OPEN VERDICT IN THE GERBERICH CASE
Jury Fails to Blame Driver of Either Machine for Recent Fatal Accident at Aurora
The jury which Sunday inquired into the death of the late Moses Gerberich, 80 Grand avenue, Aurora, who died at St. Charles hospital, Saturday afternoon, from injuries received in an automobile accident at Fox and Root streets, December 23, failed to hold the driver of either of the cars responsible for the accident.
The collision happened at 6:35 o'clock in the morning while Mr. Gerberich with three other men, were on their way to work at the Western Wheeled Scraper Works. The other occupants were William Stanley, driver and owner of the Ford touring car, Henry Michaels, and William McDonald. The Elgin Six touring car, the other car in the accident, was driven by Vernon Glascoe, South LaSalle street.
The principal testimony was given by Henry Michaels, who was riding in the front seat with Stanley. Stanley is still in the hospital and was unable to testify. - Beacon-News.

Mr. Moses Gerberich died at the St. Charles Hospital in Aurora, on January 6 from injuries received in an automobile accident which occurred on December 23.
While on his way to work Mr. Gerberich met several of his workmen in a Ford car who invited him to ride with them. When nearing the corner of Fox and Root Streets, Aurora, an Elgin car driven by Vernon Glascoe collided with the Ford car, demolishing it and throwing the occupants of the Ford into the street. Mr. Gerberich and Mr. Stanley, owner of the car, were hurried to the hospital where it was learned that Mr. Gerberich was seriously injured. After lingering for two weeks, most of the time in an unconscious state, he passed away on January 6, 1923.
He was born in East Hanover, Pa., in the year 1856 and came to Illinois when quite young and for some years was a resident of Naperville. In later years he moved to Aurora where he has held a position with the Western Scraper Works for twenty years, making many friends and acquaintances.
In the year 1880 he was married to Miss Susan Kline who preceded him in death eighteen years ago. Since then he has made his home with his sons.
He leaves to mourn his departure, five sons, George Gerberich of Oak Park, Clarence, Harry, Walter and Edgar of Aurora, also seven grandchildren, who keenly feel the loss of a kind father through an untimely death.
The funeral services were held at Healy's Chapel on Tuesday afternoon, January 9th, which was largely attended. The many beautiful floral pieces given by his friends showed their high respect for him. The remains were brought to Naperville and interment was made in the Naperville Cemetery. Deceased was a brother of Levi Gerberich of this city.
