Birth: Jan. 8, 1815, Luxembourg
Death: Jun. 21, 1906
Saint Paul
Neosho County
Kansas, USA

Catherine Goffene was daughter of Michael Goffene b Belgium and Catherine Schweigert b Belgium.
Catherine was born in Gelf, Habergy, Luxemburg.
Arrived from Belgium in 1835.

She died in St. Paul, Neosho County, Kansas.

Married 18 Feb 1839 in Pittsburg, Berks County, Pennsylvania to Nicholas Amos George. They knew each other from the "Old Country". Her village was within walking distance of Fouches.

Lived many years in Sheldon, Wyoming County, New York.
All children were baptized at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church, Sheldon, New York.

Notes from Jack George Brannan

The family name Goffene is still prominent in and around Arlon, Belgium as Goffinet, the "t" added to satisfy the French language. The village name is incorrectly spelled on the grave marker. The village is Guelff, and that is the spelling that would be necessary if anyone ever wanted to find the village on a map.
