NEW BRITAIN — Mrs. Louise M. (Genovese) Briotti, age 92, formerly of Pilgrim Avenue, Waterbury, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Friday, July 8, 2011. She was the loving wife of the late John S. Briotti.
Mrs. Briotti was born April 21, 1919, in Waterbury, a daughter of the late Domenic and Carmela (Martinelli) Genovese. She was a graduate of Bishop and Webster grammar schools and of Leavenworth High School. She worked as a recreational director for Cliff Convalescent Home and Pine Manor Rest Home for over 15 years.
Louise was a communicant of St. Lucy's Church and a charter member of their Holy Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Italian Heritage Society, CATRD of Region Nine, a former member of the Catholic Daughters of Court McGivney and a former Girl Scout leader of St. Lucy's Church.
Louise lived her life to the fullest. She traveled the world and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She had a love for life and everyone in it and was a caregiver of many. Louise enjoyed baking, especially wedding cakes, and was a wonderful seamstress, making clothes for all the children in her family.
Louise is survived by her son, John D. Briotti of Waterbury; her daughter, Jackie Kavadas and her husband, George, of Southington; her grandson, Nick Kavadas and his wife, Katie, of Cheshire; her great-grandsons, Nick and Alex Kavadas of Cheshire; and her sister, Marie Caputo. She also leaves her granddog, Zoee; 33 nieces and nephews, 66 grandnieces and nephews, as well as 34 great-grandnieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her daughter, Diana Briotti; her brothers, William, Leonard, Canio and Domenic Genovese; and her sisters, Antoinette Zordan, Josephine Greco, Frances Pannone and Anne Massa.
The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at 9 a.m. from the Maiorano Funeral Home, 95 Willow St., Waterbury, to St. Lucy's Church for a Mass at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday evening from 5 to 8 p.m.
