WEST FRANKFORT -- Faye Gelso, 92, died at 2:39 a.m. Sunday, April 24, 2011, in Herrin Hospital.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 27, 2011, in Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort, with Pastor David Utley officiating. Burial will be in Tower Heights Cemetery in West Frankfort. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to Northern Baptist Church in West Frankfort. Envelopes will be available and accepted at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gelso was a cook for many years at Head Start. She was a member of Northern Baptist Church in West Frankfort, Royal Neighbors and Rebekah Lodge, and she was a loving mother and grandmother.
She was born Aug. 18, 1918, in West Frankfort to Loren and Lula (Bolen) Parks.
Survivors include three daughters, Maureen (Paul) Yadro, Marcia (Donald) Richerson and Janellyn (Rick) Lewis, all of West Frankfort; one son, David Gelso of West Frankfort; two sisters, Fairy Stone of Knoxville, Tenn., and Nadine Bost of Phoenix; 12 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Gelso; parents; son, Paul Alan Gelso; brothers, Burrell, Buford, Delbert Leon and Byford Parks; and sister, Wanda Smilanich.
