Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, July 31, 1950:
Mrs. Bertha Caroline Ammann of 1306 St. Louis street passed away Monday morning at 2 a.m. at St. Anthony's infirmary where she had been a patient for the past ten months.
She was born Sept. 26, 1863, in Alhambra and had attained the age of 86 years, ten months and five days. She was the daughter of the late Jacob and Sabina Gehrig. Her husband, J. Fred Ammann, nationally known florist, whom she married Oct. 28, 1890, preceded her in death Feb. 16, 1943.
She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. A.A. Montgomery of this city, Mrs. H.M. Wade of Oak Park, and Mrs. E.G. Hallquist of University City, Mo.; one sister, Mrs. George Long of Alhambra; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and took an active part in the Ladies Aid.
Friends may call at the Marks-Weber funeral home after 7 p.m. Tuesday until Wednesday morning at 10:30 when private services will be held at the funeral home.
Interment will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
