It is with feelings of very deep regret that I
have to chronicle the death of Mrs. G. P. H.
Gehrig, wife of the proprietor of the Barna-
wartha vineyard, which sad event took place at
her late residence on last Friday morning after
a protracted and painful illness which the de-
ceased lady bore with Christian fortitude. The
late Mrs. Gehrig, who was a resident of this
district for upwards of 30 years, was universally
esteemed and respected, and although her demise
was not altogether unexpected when the sad
news became known, it has cast a gloom over
the entire neighbourhood. The funeral took
place on Sunday, in the Barnawartha cemetery,
and the respect in which the deceased was held was
explicitly shown by the large and sympathetic
concourse of mourners who gathered round the
grave and the very beautiful collection of floral
tributes which literally covered the coffin.
