Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth BLACKMORE was born June 1, 1840, on a farm in Columbiana County, Ohio, and fell asleep in Jesus January 14, 1923, at the age of eighty-two years, seven months and thirteen days.
She was the daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth Jane GEDDES. She was reared in a home where God and the Sabbath were honored. A reverent observance of the Sabbath, faithful attendance at public worship and the family alter were the dominate characteristics of the home life.
In her early life she connected with the M. E. church at Simpson Chapel, holding her membership in that church until her death.
The last sad rites were held at the Chapel and her remains were laid to rest in the nearby cemetery on Tuesday, January 16.
She was married February 14, 1861 to James BLACKMORE, who died in February of 1910. Six children were born to this union, of whom four survive: they are Charles, George, Mrs. John STONE and Samuel. Two daughters Nellie Jane and Carrie Ethel have bone on before. Her niece, Mrs. John EMERY, of Newberry, was as near to her as one of her own children. Mrs. EMERY had made her home with the deceased since she was two years of age, and knew her as her mother.
Mrs. BLACKMORE was a woman who had many friends among old and young, and she was beloved by all her relatives and acquaintances. Her married life was entirely spent in Taylor Township, north of Scotland.
