John "Jack" J. Gazo, 84, of Raritan entered into eternal life on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009 at Raritan Health and Extended Care Center in Raritan. Born in Lansford, PA to his late parents George and Susan (Junas) Gazo, Sr., Jack resided there until making Manville his home in 1952. Jack faithfully served his country as a private first class with the United States Army during World War II and was a member of the Thomas J. Kavanaugh Post 2290 Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States of America. Jack retired in 1981 after thirty years of dedicated employment as a punch press operator at Johns Manville Inc. in Manville where he was also a member of the JM Quarter Century Club. He was a communicant at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Jack was a handyman who also enjoyed woodworking, fishing and boating with friends and family.
Besides his parents, Jack was predeceased by his brother, Robert Gazo and grandson, Thomas Gazo in 2000. Jack leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Helen A. (Steber) Gazo with whom he joined hands in marriage with on November 23, 1946; two loving sons, Thomas and Richard Gazo both of Centennial, CO; three dear brothers, George and Joe Gazo both of Manville and Michael Gazo of Newark, DE, and two dear sisters, Irene Druss of Newark, DE and Elizabeth Orsulak of Lansford, PA. Jack will be deeply missed by three cherished grandchildren and three adored great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2009 beginning 8:30 a.m. at Fucillo & Warren Funeral Home, 205 South Main Street, Manville, NJ 08835 followed by a 9:00 a.m. funeral liturgy at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Manville. Jack will be entombed at Resurrection Cemetery Mausoleum in Piscataway.
