He died when Wellington aircraft #W 5589 attempted a forced landing with one engine on fire and crashed at the Strenshall Military Camp, Strenshall, England. Flight Sergeants S. Wityck and W.A. Robertson, and Flight Sergeant Osborne Bayfield Le Furgey were also killed.
