Veronica P. Czerniak, 88, passed away peacefully on March 30, 2008, in the Presbyterian Home of C.N.Y.
Veronica was born in Yorkville on February 4, 1920, daughter of Leon and Catherine Filip Gawlik, and received her education in local schools. On December 12, 1943, she was united in marriage to Joseph F. Czerniak in St. Mary's Church, N.Y. Mills. The couple lived in Whitesboro. Her beloved husband passed away in 1988. She was a member of St. Mary's Church. Veronica was an active lady. For many years, she enjoyed trips to Vernon with family and friends. However, caring for her family members was the most important and rewarding part of her life.
Survivors include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth Czerniak, Port Charlotte, FL, David and Patti Czerniak, Industry, PA, and Gregory and Terry Czerniak, Whitesboro; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends; a sister-in-law, Veronica Gawlik; and a very dear friend, Nancy Bien. She was predeceased by 11 brothers and sisters, Stanley Gawlik, Ida Ryczk, Stella Marcinkiewicz, Anna Duda, Mary Mielnick, Victoria Gawlik, Agnes Taraska/Orzechowski, Antonette Derella, John Gawlik, Eleanor Santos and Julie Piotrowski/Young, and two sisters-in-law, Catherine Perrault and Mary Kutas.
Her funeral will be Thursday, April 3, 2008, at 9:15 from Wolanin Funeral Home, Inc., 266 Main St., N.Y. Mills, and at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Burial in St. Stanislaus and Casimir Cemetery, Whitestown. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 2, from 5-8 p.m.
Veronica's family would like to thank Dr. James O'Malley for many years of kind and compassionate care and also the staff at the Presbyterian Home (Willow Wing) for taking such great care of her most recently.
