Elda “Maw Maw Champ” Champagne, 82, a native and resident of Larose, died at 4:15 p.m. Feb. 24, 2004.

Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today and 8 to 10:30 a.m. Friday at Samart Funeral Home in Cut Off.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, with burial at the church cemetery.

She is survived by her sons, Jeffery and Errol Cheramie of Larose; brothers, Gilbert, Alvin and Russell Gautreaux of Larose; sister, Helen B. Robinson; 10 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Norris Cheramie; and second husband, A.J. Champagne Sr.; her mother and father, Leonise Plaisance Gautreaux and Noah Gautreaux; son, Larry Noah Cheramie; brother, Ernest Gautreaux; and granddaughter, Ramona Cheramie.

She was Catholic and a member of the Ladies Altar Society, the lady’s auxiliary and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Samart Funeral Home of Cut Off is in charge of arrangements.
