FRED AND ROSE GAU
Fred Gau was born September 13, 1883 at Westphalia to Chris and Anne Pichard Gau. His father was born in Germany and his mother in Wisconsin.
Fred's brothers and sisters are: Joe, Arnold, Peter, Albert, Margaret, Chris, Mathilda, Anna and Cornelius. He married Roselia Engel February 11, 1907, the daughter of John and Kunie Dusel Engel. Roselia was born January 28, 1888 and had these brothers and sisters: Mike, Anna, Mary, Johanna, Albert, Barbara, Kunie, Cecelia and Kate.
Fred farmed in South Dakota for twenty years and then moved to Iowa where he did some farming and later worked at the carpenter trade in Defiance. Roselia was a housewife and her hobby was gardening.
They had one child, a daughter, Cecelia Rose, born August 24, 1923. She was married to A.J. (Hooky) Dotzler. She died November 2, 1954 at the age of 31.
Fred Gau passed away November 25, 1963 and Roselia Gau passed away September 3, 1953.
