CLARION – Russell Gathers, 72, of Marianne Estates, died at 12:30 pm Tuesday in Clarion Hospital.
Mr. Gathers retired in 1961 from United States Steel Fairless Works at Morrisville after 32 years service.
He was born September 20, 1904, In Monroe Township, Clarion County, a son of Harry J. and Nancy S. Fox Gathers.
He and the former Grace M. Barlett were married October 21, 1925. She survives.
Mr. Gathers was a member of the First United Methodist Church, in Clarion. He was a member and past exalted ruler of the Clarion Elks Lodge and the only honorary life member of the lodge in Clarion. He also was a member of Clarion Lodge 277, F. & A. M.
His parents and three brothers are deceased.
Friends may call after 7 pm today at the Robert V. Burns Funeral Home in Clarion, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Friday in the funeral home with Rev. George S. Crooks, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Interment will be in the Clarion Cemetery.
