She was born and educated in Sanford, North Carolina and moved to Springfield in 1950, where she worked at F.W. Sickles and National Blank Book companies. She was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband Charles H. Gaston, Sr. of Springfield, a step-son, Johnnie Lee Gaston of Charleston, S.C., 2 sisters, Marie Bell of Springfield and Dessie Murchison of North Carolina and a special niece, Patricia Bell of Springfield. She was predeceased by 3 brothers and 4 sisters. Calling hours are Thursday at Harrell Funeral Home from 11a.m. 12 noon followed by the funeral at noon. Burial will be in the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
