Born on Sept. 22, 1919, in New York City to Esther Riklan Levitow and Bernhard Levitow, Diana was raised in Kew Gardens, Queens, and then moved to Manhattan as a young adult.
A lifelong collector and patron of the visual and performing arts, Diana volunteered at the Newark Museum in New Jersey and the Heard Museum in Phoenix, Ariz. She worked as an interior designer with Dorothy Ginsberg & Associates in Metuchen.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Leslie Sobo and Harold N. Gast, and her sister, Miriam Epstein.
She is survived by her three children, David Sobo Gast of San Francisco, Calif., Barbara Sobo Gast of Blodgett, Ore., and Sara Faith Gast and her husband, Stephen Fabrico of Bloomington, N.Y. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Hillary Gast Fabrico, Anna Leslie Gast, Michael Joseph Gast and Samuel H.N. Gast; and her sister, Sally Harlow and her husband, Chester.
