BOBBY C. GASAWAY, age 60, of Pickens, Arkansas, died Monday, December 16, 1991 after a hard fought battle with cancer.
He was born July 22, 1931 at Grady, Arkansas and was a son of Mrs. Neva Chambers Gasaway and the late G. R. Gasaway. [at the time of his death]
He was a Manager of the Pickens Store and Commissary for more than thirty years for the R. A. Pickens & Son Company. He has lived in Desha County since 1949 and was a long-time area farmer and member of the Arkansas State Plant Board. He was a past member of the Arkansas Army National Guard and was a former member of the Dumas Jaycees.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Dumas, Arkansas.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Frances Gasaway of Pickens; a son, Bruce Gasaway of Tillar; two daughters, Gaye Tidwell of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and Mary Gasaway of Jonesboro; his mother, Mrs. Neva Gasaway of Tillar; two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Collins of Pine Bluff and Mrs. Shirley Smith of Dermott; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday morning graveside at Walnut Lake Cemetery in Pickens, Arkansas with the Reverend Carter Tucker and Fred Hunter officiating. A memorial service followed at the First Baptist Church in Dumas.
Arrangements were made by Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas and the family had requested any memorials to made to the Scholarship Fund at Merchants & Farmers Bank in Dumas, AR.
