Mrs. Elwing was born in Whiteside county, near Morrison, and spent her entire lifetime in this area. While in Morrison she was a clerk in Brown’s dry goods stores and later worked for clothing companies in Cedar Rapids and Davenport, Ia. She was a buyer for nine years for the Davenport store before starting her own store in Sterling.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Martin Hanna, Milledgeville, and Mrs. Cecil R. Rogers, Sterling.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Melvin funeral home, with the Rev. David Maxton, pastor of First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Chadwick Cemetery.
