FamilySearch.com: MS Confederate Records 1889 - 1942: Desoto County: Indigent and disabled Confederate soldiers and dependents, 1863-1868:
Listed together are T. B. and Jas. H. Garrott plus Jno. F. Scott and W. B. Wright, indicating participation of each in the Civil War. Scott and Wright are in-laws of the Garrotts.
"Heritage of Tate Co, MS" lists physicians registered in Tate Co, MS in 1882. Listed is James Hamilton Garrott, age 48, born Tennessee, residence Looxahoma.
On 1900 Tate County Census for Thomas B. Garrott household, 70 year old Hamilton Garrott is in this household listed as a brother to Thomas B. Garrott.
"Tate Co, MS Pension Applications in 1905" lists J. H. Garrott.
Since James has not been located on later census and records, it appears he died after 1905 and before the 1910 Census.
There is no indication that he ever married.
Living nearby, it is logical that he would have been buried in one of the now unmarked graves in the family cemetery in Looxahoma.
