Fern I. (Garriott) Bryan(1914 - 2011)
Fern I. Bryan, 96, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Tampico, passed away Jan. 2, 2011, at her home at Colonial Park Club, Sarasota, Fla.
Mrs. Bryan was a member of Tampico Baptist Church and attended St. John Methodist Church in Sarasota. She was a homemaker and was very active in the ladies group, taught Sunday school and was involved with other committees at St. John Methodist Church. She lived in Sarasota for 30 years.
Born Oct. 15, 1914, in Washington County, she was the daughter of Paul Garriott and Jessie Rutherford Garriott, both of whom preceded her in death. On May 1, 1948, in Scottsburg, she married Hugh Bryan, who preceded her in death in 1979.
Survivors include children, Sandra (Norris) Kovener, Crothersville, and Jean (Robert) Montfort, Matawan, N.J.; brother, Paul Garriott Jr., Elizabeth; sisters, Ruth Payne, North Port, Fla., and Alice Jean (Claude) Polley, Sarasota, Fla.; grandchildren, Bryan (Richelle) Kovener, Michelle (Mike) Lamonea and Melissa Montfort; great-grandchildren, Preston Kovener, Makayla Montgomery, Savannah Kovener and Jocelyn and Jayden Lamonea.
She was preceded in death by one stillborn child; brothers, Colby Garriott and Marion Garriott; and a grandson, Eric Kovener.
Harold Morrow will conduct funeral services at 11 a.m. Friday at Tampico Baptist Church. Burial will take place at Russell Chapel Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.
Memorials may be given to Russell Chapel Cemetery Perpetual Fund or donor's choice.
Arrangements are being handled by Johnson Funeral Home, Vallonia.

Fern I. Bryan, 96, of Sarasota, Fla., formerly of Tampico, died Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at her home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday at Tampico Baptist Church with Harold Morrow officiating. Calling will be from 10 a.m. until service time Friday at the church. Burial will be at Russell Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Russell Chapel Cemetery Perpetual Fund or the donor's choice of charities.
Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home in Vallonia.
Mrs. Bryan is survived by children, Sandra (Norris) Kovener of Crothersville and Jean (Robert) Montfort of Matawan, N.J.; a brother, Paul Garriott Jr. of Elizabeth; sisters, Ruth Payne of North Port, Fla., and Alice Jean (Claude) Polley of Sarasota, Fla.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Bryan, and a stillborn child.
