Laura Diane Garrett Bailey, of Panama City Beach, Florida, formerly of Bowdon, Georgia, passed away suddenly on July 4, 2007. She was 37. Mrs. Bailey was born in Carroll County, Georgia on November 1, 1969 to Ray and the late Joy Lanier Garrett. Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Bowdon First United Methodist Church and was a 1988 Honor Graduate of Bowdon High School where she was the 1987 Homecoming Queen. In 1994, she graduated from West Georgia College with a B.S. in chemistry. She was also an avid Georgia Bulldog fan.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Cyril and Wilma Lanier and Glenn and Clarice Garrett, and her God-parents, Woodfin and Marian Cole. Survivors include her husband, Lane Bailey of Panama City Beach, FL; her parents, Ray and Kathy Garrett of Bowdon; stepdaughter; three brothers and sisters-in-law; sister and brother-in-law; two nephews; six nieces; great-nephew; two uncles; grandmother-in-law, Monteen Key; many cousins, and her loving cat, Georgia.
Funeral services held July 8 at the First United Methodist Church in Bowdon, with Rev. Randy Mickler, Rev. Darryl Hessel, Andy Winkle, and Dennis Phagan officiating. Music provided by Morgan Turner. Pallbearers are Chris "Topher" Turner, Marty Tarpley, Mike Garrett, Lee Rainwater, Jeff Lanier, Keith Holloway, Dennis Rowland, Landon Hammond, and Tim Craft. Honorary Pallbearers are Barbara and Jerry Cosper, Jody Stitcher, Walter Humphries, Lisa Wiggins, Beth Garrett, Lane Pate, Terri Mussellwhite, Jill Hesterly, Kaye Freeman, Eve Shaw, Stephanie McKenzie, Becky Pearce, Lisa Vise, Eric Lovvorn, and Brandon Garrett. Interment in the church cemetery.
