Annie Louise Cook, of Pensacola, passed away Thursday morning, 20 May 2010 at the age of 76. A native of Castleberry, AL, mom was born on 19 April 1934. She had resided in Pensacola since 1971.
Mom was a perfectionist in all skills undertaken. She was valedictorian from her high school, graduated with honors from Pensacola Junior College and attended Troy State and the University of West Florida. She was a member of the Pensacola Quilting Guild where she won numerous awards.
She retired from Civil Service in 1995 as Head of Navy Industrial Accounting at NADEP/NARF, Pensacola NAS. Among her many accomplishments was assisting in the design and integration of the accounting system currently used by the Department of the Navy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James Henry Sr. and Annie Belle Garrett of Castleberry; her husband, Joseph A. Cook of Pensacola; one son, Donald B. Cook of Pensacola; and three brothers, Robert Brooks Garrett, George Leslie Garrett, and James Henry Garrett, Jr., all of Castleberry.
Survivors include her sons, Michael (Gail) of Riceboro, GA, and Dennis of Pensacola; two grandsons, Joshua and Travis of Riceboro; a sister, Betty Clark (Kent) of Theodore, AL; three brothers, Willie Garrett of Castleberry; Leotis Garrett (Jane) of Andalusia, AL; and Clyde Garrett (Cathy) of Irvington, AL, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive family and friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 25 May, 2010. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., both at Faith Chapel Funeral Home South, 100 Beverly Pkwy. Interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
