Wayne Douglas Garrett, 74 of Milton, Ky., died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2009, at the University of Louisville Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
He was born June 24, 1935, in Trimble County, Ky., the son of Morris and Helen Rowlett Garrett. He spent all of his life in Trimble County, Ky., and had lived on Peck Pike since 1942. He attended Milton School. He later married Lil Turner, and the couple had two children. He was a lifelong member of Milton Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was the recording secretary for many years. He enjoyed farming and hauling gravel in his red dump truck. He worked more than 20 years at the Trimble County Road Department. His also enjoyed riding his GoldWing motorcycle. He was an active member of the Trimble County Klunker's Tractor Club and the Trimble County Cattlemen's Association.
He is survived by one son, Bobby Garrett of Milton, Ky.; one daughter, Patty Garrett of Jeffersonville; two sisters, Mary Jo Baker of St. Petersburg, Fla. and Barbara King of Hanover; one brother, James Garrett of Tampa, Fla.; his companion, Joan Wentworth of Milton, Ky.; and two grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Ella Mae Mahoney.
A celebration of life service was at Milton Baptist Church in Milton, Ky. Burial was in Bedford Cemetery in Bedford, Ky.
