He was born Oct. 15, 1960, to Floyd E. and Winnifred P. (Rawlins) Garnett in Newton. They survive.
He attended Newton schools, graduating from Newton High School. He attended the Food Institute of Denver and received his culinary degree with an emphasis in pastry. He was employed with Holiday Inns in Kansas and the Crown Center in Kansas City, Mo. He was a member of Halls Chapel A.M.E. Church where he served on the steward board. He was a choir member and also played the organ and the piano.
Other survivors include: two brothers, Eldon Garnett of Newton and Steven Garnett of Salina; a sister, Deirdre Garnett of Wichita; and a grandmother, Mary Rawlins of Newton.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday with family greeting friends at 316 Sherman Drive.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Halls Chapel A.M.E. Church in Newton with the Rev. V. Gordon Glen III officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Memorials have been established with Hall's Chapel A.M.E. Church and Hospice Care of Kansas, both in care of Broadway Colonial Funeral Home.
