Mildred G. Burgess, 85, resident of Sherman Court, dies
Mildred G. Burgess, 85, resident of Sherman Court, Owingsville, died Sunday, March 26 at Ridgeway Manor Nursing Home after a long illness. She was a native of Bath County and a retired school teacher. A member of the Owingsville First Church of God, she was the daughter of the late Willie and Hattie Kenny [Kenney] Garner. She was a member and vice-president of the Bath County Retired Teachers, member of the National Retired Teachers, State Retired Teachers, DAV chaplain, WCG vice president and taught Sunday School for 19 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Dorothy Bailey and Addison, Owingsville; two sons, Dayton Horseman and Iris of Bethel, and James Horseman and Barbara of Winchester; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Hunt, Owingsville and Nellie Bledsoe, St. Joseph, MO; several nieces and nephews. She was the widow of Billy Burgess.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 29 at the Richie Hunt Funeral Home with Rev. Lowell C. Rice officiating and burial in the Longview Cemetery at Bethel.
