Brother of William C, Claiborne Wesley, Bradley, Isaac Jr, David Sr, Rachel Virginia, Mary E, Joseph W and Benjamin Garner.

Jacob married, 17 Jan 1867 in Bell Co., TX, Minerva Virginia Jackson. After the death of Minerva on 7 Dec 1876, Jacob married, in 1878, Martha Adaline "Addie" Morgan, a daughter of Edward Claiborne Morgan and Martha Stalsworth.

Father of (by Minerva) Virginia M "Jennie", Jacob William "Will" and Rachel Emma Garner.

Father of (by Addie) Andrew Houston, Arthur, Leonard Claiborne Isaac, Mary, Joseph Harmon "Joe", Boyd Edward "Edd", Annie Maud and Eva Lee Garner.
