Katherine B. Neel, 86, of Port Arthur, Texas died Tuesday, May 2, 2006 at her residence. Katherine was born on July 9, 1919 in Beaumont, Texas to Edgar Hayes Garner and Katherine Charity Youngblood. She was a lifelong area resident and member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Nederland. She retired from Doctors Hospital after 12 years of service as a nurses aid in the nursery. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves with Rev. Bryan Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Katherine was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Verdell Neel and grandson Paul Woodall. Survivors include three daughters, Betty Kay Bellow and husband, James Bellow of Port Arthur, Bonnie Ruth Drake and husband, George "Robbie" Drake of Forth Worth, and Marion Baggett of Colorado; one sister, Bernice Weigers of Lufkin; two brothers, Jerry Garner of Buna and Bobby Garner of Hemphill; nine grandchildren, twenty-four great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
