Jean Marshall Garland Cheney, 81 of Warsaw, died on Friday, October 23, 2009. She was the beloved wife of Edward Allison Cheney for more than forty eight years; a retired operator for AT&T where she worked for more than thirty seven years and a life-long member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Nomini Grove, Virginia.
Jean and her husband, Ed, were inseparable and constant companions who lived in Baltimore, Maryland, while maintaining a home on Garland's Mill Pond near Warsaw, Va.
Jean will be remembered for her independence that usually led her to speak her mind; for her toughest in adversity; for the strong attachment and unwaving commitment she and her husband shared for one another, especially through time of their declining health; for her love of music and talent as a classically trained pianist, and for her dedication to her church.
Mrs. Cheney was preceded in death by her parents, John G. Garland, Sr. and Neenah Marshall Garland. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two brothers, John G. Garland, Jr. of Folsom, California and Edwin Broun "E.B." Garland of Montross, Va., as well as numerous nieces and nephews, great-nephews and great-nieces.
Services were held October 28, 2009 at Saint Paul's Episcopal Church, Nomini Grove, Va., and interment followed in the church cemetery.
