Grace Garland Johnston, 93, of Lynchburg, passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010, at her residence. She was the widow of Donald D. Johnston.
Grace was born on January 29, 1917 in Johnson City, TN, a daughter of the late Myrtle P. and Columbus R. Garland. She was a former secretary with the US Department of Agriculture. Grace was a gracious lady who enjoyed being active with her family, church, and in her rose garden.
Grace is survived by her son, Timothy G. Johnston, and his wife Eve; her daughter, Donna J. Curran, and her husband Dan; her sister: Kate G. Cooper; her six grandchildren: Ryan Curran, Sean Curran, Dean Johnston, Travis Johnston, Allie Johnston, and Aaron O'Donnell; her two great-grandchildren: Caden and Lillian; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at Bethelem Lutheran Church with Rev. Floyd Addison officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Hill Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 10, 2010 from 7:00 to 8:30 PM at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.
