Erin moved from Metairie to Lafayette with her husband Jack in 1981 to begin one of the first quick lubes in Lafayette, Jack Gardner's Ten Minute Oil Change. She remained active in the business with her sons up until a few weeks before her death. Erin was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church.
Many knew her best for her gentle and compassionate spirit. It only took meeting her once to understand her kind and willing heart. She was always doing for others, and her family finds comfort knowing every kind thing she has ever done, lives on as a beautiful memory in someone else.
Her greatest accomplishments in life were being a mother and grandmother. As a mother she was strong, supportive and never faltering. Her love was never ending. She would travel the roads to take care of the needs of her children be it day or night. As a grandmother, she won the award. Nana leaves a treasure chest of memories for her grandchildren. They were first and foremost to her, showering them with her love and undivided attention. She never missed a birth, a game, a recital, or a school function; in fact Nana was our loudest fan of all. "Camp Nana" was opened for business for twenty-six years. Nana will be sadly missed.
Survivors include her children, Margaret Gardner, of Houston, TX, Erin Joyner and husband James, of Mandeville, Steven Gardner and wife Jennifer of Lafayette and Michael Gardner and wife, Kim of Lafayette. Grandchildren include Eddie Collier, Eric Collier, Rachel Gorrie, Alexandra Collier, Brandon Gardner, Molly Gorrie, Catherine Collier, Matthew Gardner, Steven Gardner, II, Jack Collier, Nicholas Gorrie, Grace Gardner and Andrew Gardner. One sister, Peggy Ducote of Dallas, TX, two brothers, Miller St. Amant of Biloxi, MS and Robert St. Amant of El Dorado Hills, CA, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Gardner, her mother Mary St. Amant, one brother Theodore "Teddy" St. Amant and one sister Rosemary Pique.
Pallbearers will be Steven Gardner, Michael Gardner, Eddie W. Collier III, Eric Collier, Brandon Gardner, Bob St. Amant and Miller St. Amant. Honorary pallbearers will be Matthew Gardner, Steven Gardner II, Jack Collier and Nicholas Gorrie.
