Robert Henry Gardner, age 81, of Bristow passed away Thursday, Dec. 29, 2005, at Inova Fairfax Hospital. A resident of the area for over 30 years, he was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Navy. He was a graduate of The Ohio State University and was retired from the Department of Transportation as an engineer with the U.S. government. Survivors include his wife, Betty Marie Gardner; a son, Robert D. Gardner of Stafford; a daughter, Brenda S. Armstrong of Washington state; a stepson, Stephen R. McMahon of Michigan; a sister, Virginia Smith of Ohio; and two grandchildren. The family will receive friends 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3, at Lee Funeral Home, 8521 Sudley Road, Manassas, where funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, with Sidney Andrews officiating.
