Carl Gardner, 87, peacefully left this world on Wednesday, January 14, 2009. Married to Billie Gardner since 2002, they lived in Eufaula, Oklahoma where Carl spent his days fishing at the lake, building close friendships and traveling with Billie in the motor home. Born and raised in Kingston, Oklahoma, Carl built his family in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Carl is survived by his children: Michael Gardner and friend Julie, Becky Gardner and Paul Gardner; step-children: Jim and Nan Stacy, Ted Stacy and his wife Kitty Ross, Linda Wilke and friend Audie Mull, and Judy Roach; grandchildren: Mary Boone, Chris Gardner, Kristina Newman, Marcus Gardner, Aaron Morehead and James Gardner; step-grandchildren: Jerry Hoa, Athena Stacy, Apollo Stacy, Christy Krapff, Casie Edgar, Shannon Roach, Kim Greenway and Jennifer Roach; as well as several great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Mary Gardner, his son Ricky Gardner, his daughter Marcie Snyder, his brother Paul Gardner and his sister Effie Huff. As the founder of Gardner Pre-Cast Concrete, Carl was always proud to see his products in use throughout the farms of Oklahoma. Carl served for the Seabees 18th Construction Battalion attached to the 2nd Marine Division in the South Pacific during World War II. Through the years, he remained close to his fellow servicemen, attending yearly reunions. He always knew someone wherever he went and was always ready to lend a hand and a tool to a friend. Carl will be missed for his wry humor, tender nature, sweet tooth, and unquestioning love for the ones he held close. A formal viewing will be held at Mercer Adams Chapel on Sunday, January 18, 2009 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 p.m. Services will be at Mercer Adams Chapel on Monday, January 19, at 10:00 a.m. with interment in Kingston Cemetery, Kingston, Oklahoma at 3:30 p.m.
