Myra (my grandmother) was the daughter of Marguerite Van Valkenburg and a man named Moses "Joe" Bush (as recorded on her social security card application). I have grandma's maternal ancestors traced back to the Netherlands!

Mrs. Myra E. Gardner
Cooperstown - Mrs. Myra E. Gardner, 95, of Cooperstown, died Monday June 19, 1995 in the Otsego County Infirmary, town of Middlefield. She was born Oct 22, 1899 in Duanesburg. She was first married to William Pierce, and later to Edwin Gardner. Both husbands predeceased her. Mrs. Gardner's early years had been spent in the Schoharie County area near Duanesburg. In later years she had lived in Unadilla, and some years in Otego. The past nine years had been at Otego County Infrmary at Cooperstown. Mrs. Gardner is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Dorothy) Harris of Otego, Mrs. William (Deloris) Maxwell of Freehold, and Mrs. Pat Ballard, Virigina; one son, Alfred Gardner of Titusville, Fla; many grandchildren among them Mrs. David (Janice) Wood of Sidney, Mrs. Wendall (Claudia) Parker of Bloomingburg, Mrs. Ted (Terri) Beers of Otego, Molly Hamilton of Middletown, and Robert Hamilton of Inverness, Fla; many great grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by two daughters, Mrs. Isabelle Wiggins and Mrs. Irene Barnes. Funeral services at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, June 22 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 30 River St. Otego, with Pastor Willard R. Miller, of the Otego First Christian Church, Otego, and the Rev. David Wood, pastor of the West Bainbridge Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be at the Otego Evergreen Cemetery, Otego. Mrs. Gardner's families will be at Brookhout Funeral Home, Otego, on Thursday, June 22, from noon to 1:30 p.m., when those who wish may call at the funeral home in Otego. It has been requested that those who wish give expressions of sympathy in lieu of flowers to the Otego First Christian Church c/o Missionary Fund for Mark and Dorothy Ott. RD No2. Otego.
