Dorothy Mary (Dryden) Gardiner, 87, of North Andover, died May 6, 2010 at the Lawrence General Hospital.
Dorothy was born in North Andover, September 7, 1922 to the late William and Rose (Czar) Dryden. She was an active member of St. Michael's Parish all her life, most recently working on the finance committee, prayer shawl ministry and outreach with Bread and Roses.
Dorothy worked at Davis and Furber Company and Zane Manufacturing Company as a Craftsman in the Engineering Department. She was a member of the Samuel B. Osgood Stamp Club, The Pentucket Investment Club. She was an avid bridge player in the Merrimack Valley and also a Hospice Volunteer.
Dorothy was a graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lawrence and also The Feener Technical Institute and Massachusetts School of Art in Cambridge. Her greatest joy was being a proud and dedicated homemaker.
Dorothy is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Alfred L. Gardiner of North Andover. Son, David Ripsom Gardiner of Haverhill, MA. Daughters, Mary L. Foley of North Andover, Ruth Ploski of Sturbridge, MA, Elaine Blackburn of Tampa, Florida and Judith Hunt and her husband Peter of Andover. 12 Grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late William J. Dryden, Joseph F. Dryden, Cecilia St. Hilaire and Claire R. Sybert.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the Conte Funeral Home, 17 Third Street, North Andover, MA. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Michael's Parish, North Andover.
