CASEY - James H. "Jim" Gard , 64, of Casey, IL passed away at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, 2008 in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, IN after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born July 2, 1944 in Casey, Illinois, the son of John J. Gard and Cecile Cribelar Gard . On August 10, 1985, he married Connie Janet Gates in Casey, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Connie J. Gard of Casey, IL; son, Vincent E. Gard of Streamwood, IL; son, Len A Gard and wife Julie of Casey, IL; daughter, Stacey E. Gard of Westfield, IN; stepdaughter, Becky S. Arrasmith and husband Richard of Chrisman, IL; stepson, John W. Hoult and wife Suzanne of Casey, IL; stepdaughter, Shelly Sawyer and husband Todd of Charleston, IL, brother, John F. Gard and wife Nancy of Casey, IL; brother, Richard S. Gard and wife Mary of Casey, IL; sister, Barbara Perisho of Marshall, IL, mother in law, Blanche Gates, grandchildren, Katie Goble, Joey Hoult, Jacob Hoult, Jordan Craft, Darby Gard , Acantha Gard , Tabatha White, Amanda White, Whitney Thomason, Lacey Thomason, Matt Smith, Luke Smith, Samantha Smith, Colton Sawyer, and great grandchildren, Madysin Gard , Quentyn Golden, Aubree Hemann, Shealyn Golden, Bryton White, Logan Smith, Layne Smith, Jaedyn Hoult and Ava Marie Goble.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Gard in 1981.
Jim was a retired foreman after forty-four years of service for Huisinga Grain and TGM of Casey, IL. He attended the Casey Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Casey, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Markwell Funeral Home, Casey, IL with Rev. Ron Juenger, Rev. Ronnie Gross and Rev. Ivan Bennett officiating. Burial will be in the Mount Cemetery, rural Casey, Illinois. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
