Lorene Garcia was born in Oklahoma on May 3, 1924 and passed away on July 17, 2010. Lorene moved to New Mexico where she met and married Felix Garcia and they married in 1971. Lorene was not only a wife, a mother, and a grandmother, she was the neighborhood mom. She would load up her van with the grandkids and the neighborhood kids and take them roller skating. Halloween was one of her favorite holidays when she would make special goodie bags for the grandkids and for some of her special neighborhood kids. Lorene's other favorite holiday was Christmas; Lorene would cook her special deserts and treats for everyone. Lorene is survived her children, Paula Holmes and her husband Don, Marvin McLemore and wife, Karen, Felix Garcia, Mark Garcia and wife, Lorraine; Lorene's grandchildren are Stephanie, Jason, Matthew, Michelle and Husband Joe, Katherine, and Ann Marie; Lorene's greatchildren are Raylynn, Kodie, Lexi, Gabby, and Bailey; Lorene is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Felix Garcia; as well as her parents. Visitation will be Friday, July 23, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 562 Atrisco SW from 8:00 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. with a rosary to be recited at 8:30 a.m., by Lorraine and Dorothy. Mass of Christian Burial will follow the rosary at 9:00 a.m., Father Gerry Steinmetz, presider. Interment will follow at Pajarito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Katherine Garcia, Ann Marie Garcia, Joe Aceves, Donald Garcia, Kirk Garcia, Michelle Garcia, and Ethan Benning. Lorene will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.
