Gilbert was survived by his wife Darleen Garcia; son Randy Garcia (wife Camila); daughter Crystal Garcia (companion Percy Espinoza); grandchildren: Isaiah Espinoza, Mariah Espinoza, and Kalista Garcia; step-children: Victoria Ortega, Rachael Enriquez, Denise Ortega, and Raymond Ortega; mother Fabiola Garcia; brothers: Henry Garcia (wife Aurora) of Chimayo, Clyde Garcia (wife Tonita) of Ranchitos, Ben Garcia (wife Flora) of Chimayo, and Johnny Garcia (wife MaryLou) of Chimayo; sisters: Aggie (husband Cipriano Lujan) of Santa Cruz, Mary Padilla of Hernandez, Eugenia (husband Johnny Barela) of Española, Patricia (husband Aurdoro Trujillo) of Grants, Josie Garcia of El Llano, and Pauline Garcia of Española; mother of his children, Linda Garcia-Vigil; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Gilbert attended school in Española, graduating from Española Valley High School and worked for Hunter Ford for 34 years.
Public visitation and Rosary were on October 24, 2011 in the Sangre de Cristo Chapel of DeVargas Funeral Home & Crematory. Mass of Christian Burial was on October 25, 2011 at La Iglesia de Santa Cruz de la Cañada. Burial followed at the Ojo Caliente Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers: Adam Garcia, Danny Garcia, Timothy Garcia, Juanito Garcia, Stephanie Garcia, and April Olivas.
