Thank you, our Heavenly Father, for the beautiful life of 86 years of our loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, Adelina Marianna Garcia. Our Lord called Adelina home on March 11, 2008 surrounded by her caring family at the home of her daughter in Las Cruces, NM.

Adelina was born on September 16, 1921 to Pedro G. Lopez and Marianna Torres Lopez in Salem, New Mexico. She graduated from Hatch Union High School, Hatch New Mexico in 1940. On February 15, 1946 Addie, as her husband fondly called her, married the love of her life Alberto L. Garcia and shared 59 years together raising three children, Norma, Alberto Jr. and Hector Joseph in the beautiful Catholic Faith.

Adelina worked in several general stores in Hatch as a sales clerk and was very active with her children's activities in school and church. Adelina and Alberto had great Faith as Catholics and during their marriage both were very active in the St. Ann's Church, Salem, New Mexico; St. Francis of Assisi, Rodey, NM; Our Lady of All Nations, Rincon, NM and Our Lord of Mercy, Hatch, NM. Adelina was very proud that both her sons had served as Altar Servers in their youth. Their home always welcomed all priests, nuns and bishops as well as all their relatives and friends to visit and dine with them. Their grandchildren enjoyed spending their summer vacations with them especially camping at Caballo Lake. Adelina and Alberto were baptismal and confirmation Padrinos of over 50 children from the Hatch Community, Las Cruces, Hurley, Silver City, Albuquerque, El Paso, Texas and Juarez, Mexico. Adelina was a member of the "Sacred Heart of Jesus League", Eucharistic Minister, member of the Hatch Catholic Committee, the Women Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary #2895811, the Hatch Garden Club, Den Mother for the Hatch Cub Scouts and a Hatch 4-H Club Leader.

Adelina leaves to cherish her loving memory her daughter, Norma R. Garcia and Robert Medrano; her son Alberto Jr. and wife Rennie from Arlington, Texas; four grandchildren she adored JoSetta Arlynn Lena, Brandi Marie Leyva (Daniel Lara II), Barbara Ann Santa Cruz (Jesse) from Plaquemine, LA and Ernest Arvizu, Arlington, Texas; six precious great-grandchildren, Dominic Leyva, Nathaniel Leyva, Daniel Lara III, Elijah and Christian Santa Cruz, and Natasha Arvizu; honorary grandchildren Gabriela and Nicholas Sandoval; sister Corina Castillo from Albuquerque, NM, her caregiver Mona Hernandez, her close cousin Lorraine Castillo and several family members. Adelina always enjoyed the company of Juanita Lucero, Elsie Apodaca, Tommie Flores, Tillie Banegas, Mary Duran, Escolastica Bustamante and Alice Cruz.

Adelina is now home with our Lord, her husband Alberto Sr. (2004), her son Hector Joseph (1984), her parents, her siblings Maxima (Maxine), Tiburcio, Luis and Reynaldo Lopez and other family members and friends as well as her very close friend Father Robert Power.

Visitation will followed by Prayer Vigil held at Our Lord of Mercy Catholic Church in Hatch, NM on March 16, 2008. The Mass of Resurrection will be held at the same church on March 17, 2008. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Dominic Leyva, Mario Torres, Daniel Lara II, David Garcia, Michael Clark and Gabriel Carreron. Honorary Pallbearers will be Roberto (Bob) Medrano, Daniel Lara III, Ernest Arvizu, Fernando Lopez, George Torres, Robert Garcia, Terry Chavez and Manuel Torres Jr.

In life we loved you dearly,
In death we will do the same.
It broke our hearths to see you go to Heaven,
You did not go alone;
For part of us went with you,
The day our Lord called you home.
You left us peaceful memories,
Your love is still our guide;
And though we cannot see you,
We know you will always be at our side.
And with the good Lord's will,
Someday we will be together as family again.
