Mrs. Bettie Kendrick Gant of the Village at Brookwood, 1880 Brookwood Avenue, Burlington died on Sunday, November 2, 2008 at the Hospice Home of Alamance/Caswell County after a short illness.
A native of Raleigh, she was the wife of Kenneth Gant, Jr. and the daughter of Dr. John Fox Kendrick and Mary Dixon Kendrick of Raleigh, both deceased. She was predeceased by her husband and two children, Kenneth Gant, III and Bettie Alexander Gant.
Mrs. Gant was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter. She was a former member of the Burlington Service League and of the Town and Country Garden Club and a past president of the Burlington Council of Garden Clubs. She belonged to the Heritage Book Club and the Alamance Country Club.
She was a graduate of St. Mary's School and of St. Mary's Junior College, after which she graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Mrs. Gant is survived by grandchildren Kenneth Gant, IV of Austin, Texas, Isaac Waring Tull Gant and Michael Alexander Dean Gant, both of Chapel Hill, and daughter-in-law Darrienne Tull Gant of Chapel Hill.
The family will receive friends in the church parlor after a memorial service to be conducted by the Reverend David Williams at the Holy Comforter Episcopal Church.
