Anna Lee Gant was the oldest of seven children born to Alverta and Alfred Gant. She attended elementary school in Blackburn and Sedalia, Missouri. She moved to Kansas City to attend high school. After graduating, she worked for the House of Beauty Salon. She later went to work for the Katz Family as a housekeeper and nanny. Anna married Gene Adams. She worked for the Starr Family for more than forty-five years as a housekeeper and nanny. She was a beloved member of the family, raising two generation of children. Their close relationship lasted until her passing. The highlights of her annual slumber parties for nieces, nephews, and cousins included foraging for treasure in her attic, playing dress-up in her clothes, and those little silver-dollar pancakes she'd serve for breakfast. Anna Lee Adams was well known as the little lady driving around Kansas City in her blue and white Chevy Malibu that she bought in 1972. Anna was a devoted member of Blessed Sacrament Church and Saint Francis Xavier Church. She served on multiple organizations including: Sodality of Our Lady and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. A stickler for decorum and etiquette, Anna could be counted on to organize memorable social engagements. Invitations to her dinner parties were cherished opportunities to taste her delectable cooking. She remembered everyone's birthday with a card and a phone call. Always an independent soul, Anna cared for her lawn (and the one next door), changed the oil in her car, and no matter how people tried to help her, she insisted on doing things herself. She loved to travel to conferences and to visit family. She had a special tenderness for children and animals. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Adams. Anna Lee Adams is survived by her sisters and brothers many nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services were held on April 6 at Saint Francis Xavier Church.
