LIME SPRINGS — William L. Gansen, 99, of Lime Springs, died of advanced age Friday (Dec. 3, 2004) at the Regional Health Services of Howard County Hospital in Cresco. Feral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Chester with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Elma. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Conway Funeral Home, 404 N. Elm St. in Cresco, and an hour prior to services Monday at the church. William Lavern Gansen was born on Jan. 19, 1905, in Elma, the son of William J. and Elizabeth (Biwer) Gansen. He attended school in Elma. On Jan. 31, 1928, he was united in marriage to Loretta Richardson at Immaculate Conception Church in Elma. He farmed near Lime Springs, was in the sand and gravel business, and sold seed corn. William is survived by his wife, Loretta; four children: Donald (Doris) of Clear Lake, Robert (June) of Rochester, Minn., James of Stenchfield, Minn., and Lois Bronner of Lime Springs; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Ann Leibold of Venice, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dale; one grandson, Bruce; five brothers, Matt, Ken, Lawrence, Phillip and John, and one sister, Gertrude Womack.
