WALDORF - Ann Ganoe Barnes, 70, of Waldorf, formerly of Hampshire County, W.Va., died Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at her residence.

She was born Sept. 8, 1927, in Three Churches, W.Va., to the late Melvin J. "Buck", and Gertrude (Lewis) Ganoe. She also was preceded in death by her husband, David Elwood Barnes, Sr.; one son, David Elwood Barnes, Jr.; one daughter, Virginia Ann Barnes; and one brother, Ralph Ganoe.

Mrs. Barnes was retired with over 30 years of service as a contracting officer for the U.S. Army Material Command.

She was a member of the Berean Independent Baptist Church, Fort Ashby, W.Va.; and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary #8950 to the VFW of Bladensburg.

She is survived by a son, Robert "Bobby" B. Barnes, Phoenix, Ariz.; a daughter, Susan K. Harding, Waldorf; two brothers, Louden Ganoe, Delaware, and Lewis Ganoe, Fort Ashby; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Friends will be received at the Shaffer Funeral Home, Romney, W.Va., on Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Dana Umbel officiating.

Interment will be in Ebenezer Cemetery, Romney.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
