As a young adult she moved her family to Texas, and later New Mexico, to seek a better life and education for her children. From there flourished a large family that has maintained its New Mexican and Texan roots.
Her generous, maternal spirit along with her fantastic cooking abilities, assured warmth to the heart as well as the stomach of any visitor who entered her home.
She was preceded in death by three children, Francisco, Emma, and Edmundo; granddaughter, Kimberly; and nine brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three children, daughters, Gloria Escarcega and Marta Gandara, both of Albuquerque; and son, Ricardo Gandara of Austin TX; grandchildren, Annette Mcginty and husband, Dave, Tim Archuleta and wife, Carla, John Archuleta and wife, Kristi, Joel Archuleta and wife, LeeAnn, Ricky Archuleta, Martin Gandara, Missy Pruett, Yvonne Duran, Mateo Duran and wife, Naomi, Andres Duran and fiance, Rachel, Alexandra Gandara, Victoria Gandara, and Isabella Gandara; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great, great grandchildren.
