Marilyn Jean Gambold
Marilyn Jean Gambold, 72, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at her residence in Bean Blossom.
She was born April 9, 1931, in Indianapolis. Her parents were Ted and Wilma (Costin) Taylor. She married Jack Gambold on Dec. 14, 1991, in Hope. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Susan Slaughterbeck of Tippecanoe County and Carol Skirvin of Nashville; a son, Robert T. Thomas of Bloomington; two stepsons, John Gambold of Milton, Fla., and Vinny Price of Rossville; a stepdaughter, Sharron McAfee of Montmorenci; a stepbrother, Richard Hollingsworth of Noblesville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis in 1948.
She was employed by Indiana Rural Water Association, which she co-founded, for 28 years. As director, she administered, planned and presented hundreds of educational programs and seminars throughout the state.
She was named a Sagamore of the Wabash and received the American Water Works Association's George Warren Fuller Award for her accomplishments in the water industry.
She was a member of Morgantown Eastern Star and was a founding member of Bean Blossom Boosters.
The Rev. Noel Olse will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home, 179 E. Mulberry St. in Morgantown. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. A graveside service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Hope Moravian Cemetery in Hope.
Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 547, Columbus, IN 47201, in memory of her mother, Wilma Hollingsworth.
