SESSER -- Vera Galloway Boyd, 87, died at 8:40 a.m. Sunday, July 7, 2002, at her home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the United Methodist Church in Sesser, with the Rev. David Morgan officiating. Burial will be at Maple Hill Cemetery in Sesser. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church in Sesser. Vera was a homemaker and a retired teacher. She was a 4-H leader; a member of the Franklin County Home Bureau, Eastern Star, and Wally Bynam Airstreamers Club; and an SIU alumni. She loved canning, traveling, fishing, and gardening. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Vera was born on March 30, 1915, in Barren Township, to Edward Lee Galloway and Dora Belle Mallory. She married Loren Woodrow Boyd, and preceded her in death in 1994. She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Loren W. Boyd and wife, Cheryl, of Benton, Stephen S. Boyd and wife, Carolyn, of Sesser, and Jeffrey Boyd and wife, Christine, of Benton; eight grandchildren and three grandchildren-in-law, Loren W. Boyd and wife, Leslie, of Troy, Heather S. Boyd of Mount Vernon, John Boyd of Benton, Anglyn Allman and husband, Mark, of Nashville, Tamara Johnson and husband, Mike, of Chicago, Stephen W. Boyd of Carbondale, Cassie H. Boyd of Sesser, and William R. Boyd of Sesser; four great-grandchildren, Tyler and Hunter Boyd of Troy, Autumn Boyd of Mount Vernon, and Madlyn Allman of Nashville; and a sister, Clara Belle Rich of West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Dora Belle Galloway; her husband; one infant brother; and a sister, Eileen Bryant.
