When Emma was about 3 years of age, her family moved from Indiana to Marion County, Illinois, about 7 miles from Salem where she grew to womanhood.
Emma lived all of her life on a farm in Raccoon Township, then because of failing health of her husband, they moved to Salem, where the remainder of her life was spent. She lived with her daughter Ethel who faithfully cared for her until the end.
