Father of Wine Makers Ernest (1909-2007), and Julio (1910-1993), and Joseph (1919-present) Gallo. Husband of Assunto (1887-1933 Mr. Gallo and his wife were found shot to death at their home near Fresno, California, on June 21, 1933. It appeared to be a murder suicide. Mr. Gallo killing his wife and then turning the gun on himself. Mrs. Gallo ws found in the yard, shot to the back of the head, Mr. Gallo was found slumpt over the dinningroom table, his revolver near by. Doubts about what happened are in dispute to this day. The two brothers were suspected of the crime, but nothing ever came of it. Mr. Gallo was only 50 years old.
